Having a positive attitude is great – being able to join with others who share the same attitude is something special.
This is what is motivating a group of like-minded citizens to take the celebration of Positivity Day in C-K to a whole new level.
“Chatham-Kent is a great place to live and we know there are many people in our community who feel this way,” said Darrin Canniff, co-chair of the citizen group that is organizing Positivity Day in C-K. “So we decided it is time to band together to give a united voice to the significant population of positive people who live in Chatham-Kent.”
Building on the success of the first Positivity Day held last year, it has been expanded to include the 12 Days of Positivity.
These themed days, which begin with Neighbour Day on Sept. 4 and run through to Positivity Day on Sept. 15, focus on celebrating some of the many great aspects of our community, such as agriculture, local business, first responders and educators, as well as our vibrant not-for-profit sector.
Organizers believe there is at least one of the 12 Days of Positivity – and likely more – that appeals to each resident of Chatham-Kent.
Some positive people in our community have stepped forward and volunteered to be champions in leading one or more of the 12 Days of Positivity to help fellow residents celebrate what they appreciate about our community.
“We want to take this over the top to be an event that lays the foundation for bringing about a whole new attitude of positivity in our community,” Canniff added.
Momentum is already building for Positivity Day in C-K. Many workplaces, schools and individuals have already committed to being a part of an event that organizers would like to see initiate lasting, positive impacts in the community.
“Participation is what will make this a memorable event as well as be a springboard to maintaining positivity across our community,” Canniff said.
